PNP councillors pushing for leadership positions in ALGA

With a new president of the Association of Local Government Authorities Jamaica [ALGA-J] to be elected soon, some councillors from the People's National Party (PNP) want to see a shift in the leadership of the organization.

The elections for president and vice presidents will be conducted at the Association's Annual General Meeting on Friday

Councillor for the Edgewater Division and Deputy Mayor of  Portmore Alric Campbell believes the leadership should come from among councillors from the PNP.

Councillor for the Waterford Division Fenley Douglas also wants more resources to be pumped into the Local Authorities

Councillor Douglas says the Association of Local Government Authorities needs to be more strident in advocating for councillors.

He says there needs to be a clear distinction between local representatives and Members of Parliament.
