Police investigators have until Monday to charge or release the St. Ann teen taken into custody following the shooting incident at Ocho Rios High School.
A 12-year-old girl was wounded in the shooting and has been receiving psychosocial support.
It was reported that about 12:45 p.m. Monday, the students were in class when the gun was removed from a back pack and went off, hitting the female in the thigh.
A Glock 9 millimetre pistol was recovered from the scene.
The 14-year-old boy appeared in court on Thursday and was ordered remanded until Monday.
