The opposition People's National Party has lost momentum in the race towards the next general parliamentary election, slipping almost four points since the last poll was done in September.

During the same period, though, the governing Jamaica Labour Party has hardly benefited from the PNP's slippage, increasing its support by only 0.5%.

In the latest RJRGLEANER Commissioned Don Anderson poll, 35.4 per cent of respondents say they would vote for the PNP as against 30.7% per cent for the JLP.

The poll was conducted late January to mid February this year and canvassed responses from 1,201 registered voters across the country.

In the September poll, 39.3 per cent of respondents said they would vote for the PNP, while in the latest poll that percentage had dropped to 35.4.

In September 2024, 30.2 per cent of respondents expressed support for the JLP and in the latest exercise, 30.7 per cent said the same.

The PNP's lead of 9.1 per cent in September has therefore dropped to 4.7 per cent.

Pollster Don Anderson, commenting on the findings, noted that the fall in support for the People's National Party has not benefited the Jamaica Labour Party's standings.

The number of uncommitted voters has increased by 11 per cent, moving from 30.5 per cent last September, to 33.9 per cent in the latest poll.

In providing the reasons for their support, an equal split of 32 per cent of those polled said their vote would be based on tradition.
