A suspect in the disappearance of Digicel employee Kevin Walker, who is presumed dead, was fatally shot during a police operation in the Kingston West police division on Tuesday evening.
The police say the man, known only as Diamond, was among several people listed as Persons of Interest.
Another suspect, 19 -year-old Tajay Thompson, otherwise called Teco, was apprehended during the operation.
The two remaining suspects - Lavar Whitter and a man known by the alias Shano are still at large.
They are being urged to surrender immediately.
The police say there are now four persons in custody, including three women, in relation to the disappearance of Mr Walker, who was reported missing on February 2.
It's reported that the operation, led by members of the Kingston West Police, unfolded at approximately 7:30 in the vicinity of Nuttall Street and Last Street in the Kingston West police division.
The police intercepted a silver Toyota Probox that was stolen from its owner earlier in the day.
The officers reported that the vehicle was spotted being driven recklessly, and when signaled to stop, the occupants opened fire at the police, prompting them to return fire.
Diamond was shot and wounded. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Mr Thompson was arrested at the scene.
The police say a nine millimetre pistol was recovered.
