Investigators from the St Catherine South Police Division are probing the attempted murder of radio personality, Jody Ann Gray. Ms. Gray, an employee of the government-run radio station, KOOL FM, was attacked and shot in the head by gunmen at her gate in Cedar Grove, Portmore, St. Catherine, last night.
Investigators are now questioning a co-worker of Ms. Grey, in connection with the murder plot. Head of the St. Catherine South Police Division, Senior Superintendent Colin Pinnock, told RJR News that the prime suspect, Wayne. W. Whyte, is now in custody, in connection with the shooting. Mr. Whyte is also a well-known personality at the radio station. Two other suspects are also in custody.
It's reported that shortly after ten o'clock Wednesday night, Ms. Grey, who also features on the Supreme Ventures Cash Pot programme, drove to her in home in Greater Portmore. While at the gate, she was approached by gunmen, who immediately opened fire on her. Ms. Grey was shot in the head and hand. One investigator told RJR News that Ms. Grey is lucky to be alive as the bullet did not penetrate her forehead, but lodged in her mouth. It's reported that the cops were alerted and the get-away-car was intercepted along Cedar Grove. The police say Mr. Whyte was the driver of the vehicle.
The gun used in the incident was recovered, Thursday afternoon, when the cops returned to the crime scene. SSP Pinnock told RJR News that Mr. Whyte was questioned in the presence of his attorney. He said the cops are now waiting to interview Ms. Gray, before laying possible charges.
