Police seize assault rifle on church compound in St. Andrew

The St. Andrew South Police seized an assault rifle on the compound of a church on Wednesday.
 
Superintendent Damion Manderson, head of the St. Andrew South Division, told Radio Jamaica News that an M1 Garand rifle containing six 7.62 mm rounds of ammunition was found on the roof of a church along Crescent Road, about 12:53 p.m.
 
No one was arrested in connection with the find.
 
Superintendent Manderson said three illegal guns have been seized in the division, this week, as part of ramped up activities by the police, targeting gangs and wanted men.
