A police constable and an ex-cop who were arrested in connection with the kidnapping and robbery of a businessman in St. Thomas were offered bail when they appeared in the parish court on Wednesday.
Constable Raniel McGregor, who is attached to the Morant Bay Police Station, and ex-cop Lonnie Pearcy were each granted bail in the sum of $2 million with one to three sureties.
Bail conditions were also attached.
The men are to return to court on June 14.
They are charged with kidnapping, use of a firearm to commit a felony, robbery with aggravation and breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.
It's alleged that Constable McGregor colluded with three others, including Mr. Pearcy, to abduct the businessman and rob him of more than $2 million.
He was later released and a report was made to the police.
The policeman and the ex-cop were arrested on May 5.
