A police constable is among three people suspected to have drowned at Sandhill Beach in Hellshire, St. Catherine on Thursday.
The policeman has been identified as Shamar Grant of the Portmore Operations Branch.
The other victims are a 13-year-old boy and his aunt.
It's reported that the constable attempted to save the woman and the 13-year-old boy who were swimming and got into difficulties at Sandhill Beach.
Acting Senior Superintendent Leighton Gray, Commanding Officer for the St. Catherine South Police, says the constable also got into difficulties.
"So far, we were able to rescue the aunt from the beach with the assistance of the Marine and Coast Guard. She was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital, however, she has since been pronounced dead. The other two persons are feared to have been drowned. So we are still looking for them at this time," he said.
SSP Gray said a search is to resume Friday morning for the two missing people.
