Portland man being sought for attempted abduction of UTech student

The police have launched a search for a Portland man who attempted to abduct a student of the University of Technology (UTech) on Sunday.

The incident occurred about 11 a.m. along King Street in downtown Kingston.

Investigators reported that the 20-year-old student and the suspect, who shared a social relationship, met up at South Parade.

She entered his vehicle which drove onto King Street.

The student then told the suspect that she was ready to go to work and opened the door to exit the vehicle, but the man drove off causing interest to her feet.

He then pulled her into the vehicle and sped off. This led to a tussle between the two.

The UTech student reportedly jumped from the moving vehicle in the vicinity of Kingston High School.

She sustained multiple injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A report was later filed with the police.
