Public Health specialist Dr Alverston Bailey believes the silence of the Ministry of Health & Wellness on the withdrawal of the AstraZeneca vaccine is creating unnecessary anxiety among the population.
The manufacturer recently announced that it had withdrawn the vaccine from the market, after admitting in a court case, in England, that the medication caused rare side effects, including blood clots.
The Ministry of Health & Wellness says it is preparing a report to respond to growing public concern about the vaccine.
Dr Bailey told Radio Jamiaca News that the blood clots do not occur regularly in those vaccinated.
He believes the vaccine is being withdrawn because it is no longer useful to combat the new strain of the virus.
