Public required to pay for some services offered by police

 As of June 1, the public will be required to pay for several of the services now being offered by the police. The new fees were published in a recent edition of the police force orders.
   

Of the twelve new rates quoted, seven of the services which were previously offered free of charge,  will now attract a cost. In some cases, the fees have been increased by as much as two hundred percent.
 In the past, civilians did not have to pay for insurance assessment reports, reports on fires, damage to property, crime related property loss, along with death and injury claims.
These reports will now cost J$2,500.

To replace lost motor vehicle documents, passports and drivers' licenses the cost is now J$2,500, while abstract motor vehicle receipts or copies of those receipts will cost J$ 500.  

For those persons who have met in an accident and may require an accident reconstruction report the price will be J$10,000. All forensic document examination and other similar types of legal documents will  be J$20,000.

Police certificates will now be offered over different times periods and at different rates.

One day  - J$8,0000

Five days – J$6,000

20 days – J$3,000

Regular motor vehicle reports  will cost J$3,000 up from J$1,000 . Taking of fingerprints for overseas use will be increased to J$1,5000 up from J$500
The cost for having a criminal record expunged will be placed at J$3,000 up from J$1,000 .
