Efforts will be made to restore the bronze statue of reggae legend Bob Marley which has been defaced in Celebrity Park outside the National Stadium in Kingston. It was discovered on Wednesday that the statue had been splashed in several sections with red paint.
Ainsley Henriques, chairman of the Jamaica National Heritage Trust, said the Trust will this Friday conduct an investigation to ascertain the extent of the defacement, after which arrangements will be made to restore the statue.
“I personally will be inspecting the statute on my way to work, and I will be speaking with the staff of the Trust shortly afterwards to recommend, from my own expertise, what should be done to clean the statute as fast as possible,” said Mr. Henriques.
The police are investigating the defacement.
