The Retirement dump in St. James is now accessible after the road leading to the facility was blocked on Thursday, following the death of reputed gang leader Ackeem Bowen, also known as 'Wrizzla'.

There was unrest among residents, who blocked the road Thursday morning in response to Mr. Bowen's death.

The alleged leader of the Dump faction of the 13th Street gang was killed during a police confrontation Wednesday night.

Superintendent Eron Samuels, Commanding Officer for the St. James Police, says order has been re-established in the area.

He says waste disposal, which was also impacted, can now return to normal after garbage trucks were forced to go to St. Ann to offload waste.

The dump services several hotels across western Jamaica.
