Former Russian Opposition leader Alexei Navalny was laid to rest in Moscow on Friday, exactly two weeks after his death.
Thousands of mourners gathered to pay their respects to the former opposition figure — expressing defiance and calling Mr. Navalny a "true hero".
The Kremlin said it had nothing to say to Mr. Navalny's family and also warned against unauthorised memorials for him.
Mr. Navalny's parents attended the funeral but his wife Yulia decided not to travel to Russia amid concerns about repression from the Kremlin.
In a post on social media, she thanked her husband for "26 years of absolute happiness" and said they would meet again one day.
Russia's prison service said he died after feeling unwell after a walk, while Mr. Navalny's team and family have blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for his death.
