Shawn Cole, the security guard who was convicted of the fatal shooting of a 38-year-old mentally ill man in Junction, St. Elizabeth in 2017, was on Monday sentenced to 18 years imprisonment before the Home Circuit Court.
The sentence comes three months after Cole was found guilty by a seven-member jury in the St. Elizabeth Circuit Court for the murder of Haile Clacken.
Cole's bail was extended following his July 30 conviction and the case transferred to Kingston after sittings of the Circuit Court ended in St. Elizabeth.
Mr. Clacken was fatally shot after he climbed atop a Guardsman armoured vehicle in Cheapside on June 23, 2017.
