The National Water Commission says several of its systems were impacted by Tropical Storm Rafael.
NWC's Acting Communications Manager Delano Williams says several communities are without water supply as debris has blocked the pipelines.
"Our teams have been working actively at restoring a number of the facilities, rural systems now, which were impacted by the heavy rainfall. So far, within the last 24 hours, we have restored approximately 25 systems situated mainly along the southern coastline," he said.
As soon as the weather improves, he added, another push will be made to complete the remaining systems over the next 24 to 48 hours.
"Once we are able to see the improvement in the weather conditions we believe that clearing these intakes, restoring the pipelines and restarting the pumps should be within a matter of days," he said.
In the interim, the NWC will be trucking water to the affected communities.
