South Africa land law at centre of Trump row challenged in court

The Democratic Alliance in South Africa has filed a legal challenge against a controversial new land seizure law at the centre of a row with US President Donald Trump.

The alliance is part of South Africa's coalition government.

The Expropriation Act allows for private land to be seized by the government without compensation in certain cases.

Mr. Trump has frozen foreign aid to the country as a result of the act, alleging that land is already being confiscated.

The South African government says the US president's actions were based on a campaign of misinformation and propaganda aimed at misrepresenting their great nation.
