Head of the Police Traffic Department Senior Superintendent Radcliffe Lewis is lamenting what he says is the high level of corruption at the Inland Revenue Department.
SSP Lewis, who was addressing a meeting of a Senate Committee examining the motor vehicle licensing system, says more needs to be done to weed out corruption at the tax department.
According to the senior policeman, there is a disconnect between management and line staff.
SSP Lewis added that a security chief needs to be appointed to the Inland Revenue Department.
Moving to the facilities available at traffic examination depots, SSP Lewis says a lack of security at these entities across the island facilitates corrupt activity.
