Detectives from the St. Elizabeth Criminal Investigation Branch have laid charges against a man in connection with a murder committed in Cuffies Pen, Lacovia on December 26.
Rick Baker, 21, otherwise called Gullius - a farmer of Holland Village, St Elizabeth, was charged with Murder, Conspiracy to Murder, Assault at Common Law, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition, and Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony.
The charges stem from the shooting death of 25 year-old Dario Smith - otherwise called Dinky - of Cuffies Pen.
The Black River Police police reported that about 3:00 a.m., on December 26, Mr Smith was walking along the main road in his community when he was attacked by Mr Baker and two other men who shot him multiple times.
The police were alerted, and Mr Smith was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Baker and the other men escaped.
Baker later surrendered to the police.
He was later charged in the presence of his attorney.
