A man who was listed as the St. James Police's most wanted fugitive, is in custody.
The suspect, who goes by the alias 'Gio', was captured on Sunday along the Harvey beach in the Coral Gardens area, during a police operation.
This was disclosed by head of the St. James Police, Superintendent Eron Samuels.
He said the suspect, who is supposedly aligned to a gang in the community of Flanker, was wanted in connection with several murders and shootings committed in St. James.
"At the time of this capture, he was listed as the most wanted and featured prominently on the Jamaica Constabulary Force's 'Wanted Wednesday', Superintendent Samuels noted.
"During this operation, no shots were fired, nobody was hurt. He gave himself up to the police without a fight," said the senior lawman, who added that the capture of McKenzie is a success for the division.
Meanwhile, as the St. James police continue to target wanted men and illegal guns under the anti-crime initiative "Operation Storm", two assault rifles were seized on Monday.
Superintendent Samuels said two M16 rifles along with 33 rounds of ammunition were seized in the Granville Police area.
No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
