The St. Mary police, during a pre-dawn operation, recovered an illegal firearm that was concealed in a shallow grave.
The police say, about 2:20 a.m., a team from the St. Mary Criminal Investigations Branch conducted an intelligence-led operation in the community of Robin's Bay, St. Mary.
A targeted search was conducted at a cemetery where members of the team discovered a black Armsan Silah shotgun buried in a shallow grave.
No one was arrested in connection with the find.
The authorities are urging anyone with information that can assist in the investigation or about illegal guns, ammunition and criminal activities to contact the Port Maria Police Station at 876-994-2223 or Crime Stop at 311.
