Suriname to develop policies to strengthen position one of three carbon-negative countries

The Suriname government says it will develop policies to strengthen the CARICOM country's position as one of the three carbon-negative countries in the world with the least emissions of harmful gases into the atmosphere.
 
President Chandrikapersad Santokhi said he has instructed the Minister of Finance and Planning to develop a policy for the import of vehicles into the country.
 
He said he wants Suriname to maintain its status as one of the three carbon-negative countries in the world.
