The Suriname government has been given a two-day deadline to pay outstanding salaries to public servants, including teachers, or face legal action.
Attorney representing some of the affected public servants, Reita Madhuban, says her clients have been duly registered with the authorities and that they have been showing up for work daily and signing the attendance list.
The Association of Teachers in Technical Education has claimed that the salaries of many government officials, including members of the association, have been withheld, forcing them to go through another month without payment.
