Frustrated with the deplorable state of a section of Waltham Park Road in St. Andrew, taxi operators took to the street on Monday morning to press for urgent action from the authorities.

Their contention is at the intersection of Waltham Park and East Roads where the road is riddled with large potholes.

The taxi operators, who blocked the area with old appliances and tyres, told Radio Jamaica News that the road has been deteriorating for sometime.

They say motorists have to slow considerably, creating a traffic nightmare.

One taxi operator lamented that he was transporting a crash victim to hospital on Sunday night, but the poor road condition and resultant traffic caused significant delay, during which time the victim bled out.

The taxi operators say the poor road condition is compounded by overflowing sewage which has settled into the potholes.
