A 16 year-old girl from Westmoreland has been charged in connection with the lottery scam.
The teenager, who appeared in court on Tuesday, was held at a house in Brinkley, St. Elizabeth last Friday. She was allegedly found in the company of a 21 year old man who is also charged in connection with the lottery scam.
The court was told that during an operation the police searched a room that the two occupied. Lead sheets containing the names of individuals were reportedly found hidden in a pair of shoes.
The teenager and the man were charged with Possession of Identity Information.
The court was informed that the teenager was a student of a prominent high school in Westmoreland but was recently suspended. She had been scheduled to start attending another high school in the parish on January 9.
The teenager was remanded to a place of safety until her next court appearance this Friday.
