The Bahamas: Former PM wants commission of inquiry into allegations involving a senior police officer

Former Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis has called for a commission of inquiry into gang activity in The Bahamas as the Royal Bahamas Police Force faces controversy following the release of voice notes that purport to capture a financial quid-pro-quo arrangement involving a senior police officer and two gang leaders, who were murdered.

Dr Minnis says he is extremely concerned about the trajectory in which the country is headed with respect to the recent disturbing events and the vexing increase in criminal activity.

Law enforcement in the US and UK have been approached to assist with the investigation.

Prime Minister Philip Davis said he found the voice notes terribly disturbing.
