Traffic restrictions announced for section of Portmore Drive

By Nakinskie Robinson

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that traffic restrictions will be implemented along a section of Portmore Drive in St. Catherine, starting Sunday, May 26.

The roadway will be reduced to single lane usage, for four days, between its intersection with Portmore Parkway on George Lee Boulevard and Miller Road.

NWA Communication and Customer Services Manager Stephen Shaw says the work, valued at $2 million, is being implemented in two phases.

Both phases are being done under a contract that will see the replacement of a damaged drainage grating.

Mr. Shaw says a second phase of work is to be done at a later date, under the same contract, and that traffic will also be impacted for four days.

Road users are being advised to exercise caution while the project is in progress and to obey the instructions of posted warning signs.
