Trinidad and Tobago's Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Amery Browne has hailed late former Prime Minister Basdeo Panday as an "icon" and "charismatic leader".
Mr. Panday died Monday, aged 90.
Dr. Browne says the former Prime Minister had established himself as "Trinidad's most quotable national figure".
Mr. Panday founded the United National Congress and remained political leader until 2010.
He served as the fifth prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago from 1995 to 2001.
