Tufton: 58 ambulances available across four regional health authorities

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has disclosed that there are 58 working ambulances across regional health authorities.
 
He revealed on Tuesday in the House of Representatives that this is 16 more than the fleet available five years ago.
 
Dr Tufton provided a breakdown of the distribution of ambulances across health authorities islandwide: 12 in the Southeast Regional Health Authority, 14 in the Northeast region, 12 in the Southern region and 20 in the Southern region.
 
He said six Mercedes Benz ambulances were procured under the Programme for the Reduction of Maternal and Child Mortality to support five health facilities across the island.
 
Three of these ambulances are functional while the remaining three are out for repairs.
