US reiterates pledge of US$100M to Haiti

The United States has reiterated its pledge of US$100 million to Haiti.

The United Nations' Security Council yesterday adopted a resolution to authorise a Multinational Security Support mission to the French-speaking CARICOM country.

US Secretary of State Antony J Blinken said it is hoped that the international community will also provide funding, equipment, training, and personnel to support a truly multinational effort.

Mr Blinken said this pivotal mission, which will launch in partnership with Haiti, is a response to Haiti's request for international support to address insecurity and create the necessary security conditions for long-term stability and growth.
