Vincentians urged to be vigilant during hurricane season

Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has urged Vincentians to be vigilant as the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season begins.

In an address to the nation, Dr. Gonsalves urged citizens to remain focused and stay informed by following reputable agencies, which will provide accurate information.

The Prime Minister stressed that, with an above average season comprising 13 to 19 named storms, approximately six to 10 of which are expected to become hurricanes, and three to five major hurricanes, the onus is on Vincentians to address their vulnerabilities and take necessary precautions.

Following the passage of Hurricane Beryl last year, approximately 52 per cent of the island's population suffered significant destruction to housing, transportation, infrastructure and public buildings, including schools.
