Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the ongoing assessment of damage caused by Hurricane Beryl is to be ramped up with an increase in personnel.

Mr. Holness said significant progress has already been made in data collection efforts, but given the government's commitment to fast-track these assessments, the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development has provided 200 summer workers from the Youth Summer Employment Programme to assist the Ministry of Social Security in its effort to quickly assist those affected by the hurricane.

"An additional 300 summer workers from the Youth Summer Employment Programme will be assigned to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management to bring rapid conclusion to the damage assessment process. And they will be in the field beginning next Monday, July 22nd," the Prime Minister announced.

He was speaking on Tuesday in the House of Representatives.
