Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana sign common security agreement

Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana have signed a Common Master Plan to bolster regional security and defence.
 
The agreement was arrived at following a day of of intensive dialogue involving Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, and Brazil
 
A release from the Ministry of Home Affairs in Guyana says the signing marks a key step towards enhancing cooperation and addressing shared security challenges.
 
According to the Guyanese Government, the dialogue highlighted the critical importance of a unified approach to understanding the regional strategic defence and security environment.
 
It says the emphasis was placed on collaborative efforts to combat security threats and address challenges affecting the populations, territories, maritime space, and other interests of the countries.
