Haiti: Garry Conille condemns presidential council’s resolution, claims decision violates constitution

Former Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille says the resolution adopted by the Presidential Transitional Council to revoke his appointment was taken outside of any legal and constitutional framework and raises serious concerns about its legitimacy and repercussions on the future of the country.

In an open letter to the nation, Mr Conille, who was sworn into office in June, replacing Dr. Ariel Henry, said the decision of the TPC directly contravenes both the Constitution and the texts governing the transition period.

The council yesterday announced that it had sacked Mr Conille, in a move seen by political observers to further heighten the existing political and socio-economic situation in the country.

The TPC today said it had appointed by decree 52-year-old businessman Alix Didier Fils-Aimé as prime minister of Haiti.
