Arnett Gardens goalkeeper Roje Williams, remains is in stable condition and good spirits following an unfortunate incident that led to him being stabbed on Monday night by a woman.
A source who asked not to be named, confirmed with Radio Jamaica Sports that the incident happened on a road adjacent to the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, shortly after their game against Tivoli Gardens FC in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League (JPL) which ended goalless.
While the source could not speak specifically to the nature of the incident, it’s understood that Williams on receiving the injury, ran back on the compound and was assisted by a member of the security force who drove him to the hospital.
The source also confirmed that the woman involved has since been taken into custody. Williams who played in the game against Tivoli, had transferred to Arnett Gardens from Vere United.
On the field of play, third place Arnett Gardens played out a 0-0 all draw with Tivoli Gardens. The “Junglists” now move to 67 points, two behind second placed Montego Bay United.
Tivoli Gardens remain in 7th place , one point behind 6th place Waterhouse. In the curtain raiser, Racing United defeated Chapelton Maroons 3-0.
Jevaughn Cole's opened the scoring in the 29th minute, before Nickyle Ellis added the second in the 46th minute.
Tajay Grant sealed the deal in the 79th minute. Racing sit 8th on 45 points, four behind Waterhouse in 6th, while Chapelton Maroons are 9th on 33 points.
