The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) will soon go on the hunt for a new coach for the senior men’s national team following the sudden exit of Icelandic coach Heimir Hallgrimsson.
The news came after the Reggae Boyz final game at the Copa America tournament in the United States where they went down 3-0 to Venezuela.
A release late Sunday night from the JFF said it had accepted the resignation of Hallgrimsson, noting that the decision was communicated to president Michael Ricketts and the players by Hallgrimsson earlier in the day.
Hallgrimsson took up the job as Reggae Boyz head coach two years ago. The release added that the JFF would like to thank Hallgrimsson for the work he has done, while saying it was pleased with his level of commitment to the team.
The JFF’s Technical Committee will now begin the search for Hallgrimsson’s replacement with Concacaf Nations League and Fifa World Cup qualifying matches on the horizon.
