Captain Khadija “Bunny” Shaw netted a three-timer to power Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz to a convincing 4-0 win over Antigua and Barbuda in their CONCACAF Women’s World Cup semi-final round qualifier at the National Stadium on Friday night.
The talismanic Shaw led from the front with a clinical display, once again underlining her importance to Jamaica’s attacking threat, as the hosts dominated proceedings from start to finish.
Following a slow start, Shaw’s treble set the tone for a one-sided contest, as the Reggae Girlz controlled possession, dictated tempo, and repeatedly broke down the visitors’ defence with pace and precision.
The emphatic win was sealed deep into stoppage time when Deneisha Blackwood calmly converted a 90th-minute penalty to add gloss to an already dominant performance.
Beyond the scoreline, the result carries significant weight in Group B, strengthening Jamaica’s push toward qualification for the CONCACAF W Championship and keeping them firmly on course for a third consecutive appearance at the FIFA Women's World Cup.
