Cavalier FC are Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League (JPL) champions for the second consecutive year and 4th time overall after beating Mount Pleasant fa 6 - 5 on sudden death penalties in Friday night's final at the National Stadium. The teams had played out a 0-0 draw in regulation and extra time.
The teams ended the regular penalty shootout locked at 4-4, while in the sudden death segment Giovanni Laing and Jamilhio Rigters converted for Cavalier, but Clifford Thomas missed the decisive penalty for Mount Pleasant.
Cavalier were winning the Premier League crown for the third time in five years and 4th overall, while it was the third time in the last four years that they were lifting the title via a penalty shootout. They won the title last year in a similar manner also over Mount Pleasant.
Cavalier's goalkeeper Vino Barclett who was outstanding throughout the contest, was named Player of the Game. Warner Brown of Arnett Gardens won the golden boot award, having scored 22 goals.
Meanwhile, Arnett Gardens have qualified for the CONCACAF Caribbean Club Shield following their 4-2 win over Montego Bay United in the third place playoff.
