Clunis' case now before CAS Ad Hoc Committee

Report by RJRGLEANER Group Sports Reporter Christopher Scott

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) and three other named associations, will have until 6:00 pm on Friday, July 19, to file submissions in their ongoing dispute with national hammer throw record holder, Nayoka Clunis.

Also named in the document seen by Radio Jamaica Sports, are the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and World Athletics.

They have all been named as interested parties, as Clunis stages one last fight to get on the team to the Paris Olympics.

The matter was filed late Wednesday, and received by the Court of Arbitraton for Sport (CAS), early Thursday morning.

A panel formed by CAS, will now await a written submission from the JAAA and the interested parties, and then decide whether or not to hold a hearing into the matter.

An administrative mishap by the JAAA, saw Clunis' name being left off the official list of athletes published by World Athletics last Friday.

For Clunis to make the trip to Paris, an athlete from the 32 chosen for the women's hammer would have to withdraw from the competition.
