CONCACAF teams escape with a draw in FIFA Women's World Cup

Concacaf teams Mexico and Costa Rica equipped themselves well on Tuesday in the FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada, playing to drawn results against their more fancied rivals.

Costa Rica drew 1-1 with highly fancied Spain, after Vicky Losada kicked Spain in front on 13 minutes, only to see Rodriquez equalise for Costa Rica a minute later. That score remained 1-1 at full tiime in Group E.

And Conmebol team Colombia were held 1-1 by Mexico in Group F. Perez put Mexico in front on 36 minutes, while Montoya leveled the score 8-mintes from time.

In another Group F encounter, Le Sommer netted a beauty in the 29th minute to give France a 1-0 win over England, while the second Group E match presented Brazil to the tournament, and they blanked South Korea 2-0 with goals from Formiga in the 33rd minute and Marta from the spot in the 53rd minute.

Meanwhile, the FIFA men's Under-20 second round - knock out phase - begins tonight Jamaica time, with Ghana playing Mali at 11 o'clock and Serbia meeting Hungary. At 2.30 am Wednesday morning, USA plays Colombia, while Ukraine tackles Senegal, that match to be televised LIVE on TVJ.
