Four time Olympian Alia Atkinson had to settle for eighth place in the women’s 100m breaststroke final at the Rio Olympics on Monday night.
The 27 year old Jamaican looked conservative throughout the event and came home in 1:08.10 seconds, well off her personal best of 1:05.93 and her London 2012 fourth place time of 1:06.98.
The event went to American Lilly King in a new Olympic record of 1:04.93 seconds.
