Minister of Sports Olivia "Babsy" Grange has sought once again to address the anxiety among the general public over the current resurfacing of the track at the national stadium.
Speaking at Friday's meeting of the Standing Finance Committee in Gordon House, Minister Grange gave the reassurance that the world-renowned Boys and Girls Athletics Championships set for later this month at the venue will not be affected.
Minister Grange elaborated that when the project is completed, it will also showcase brand Jamaica to the international market.
As previously reported by Radio Jamaica Sports, the new track will reflect the colours of the national flag. Track manufacturer Rekortan has been contracted to refurbish the track at a cost of US $350,000 or approximately JMD 52.5 million.
