The Jamaica Tallawahs scored a close three wickets win over the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel in the Caribbean Premier League Twenty/20 this at Sabina Park this afternoon to finish with two wins from their three home games.
Already through to the semi-finals and chasing 134 to win against the Trinidad and Tobago franchise, the Tallawahs got off to a rollicking start with Chris Gayle slamming a quick fire 51 of 28 balls including 4 fours and 6 sixes.
However the Red Steel would peg back the Jamaican outfit to 126-7 and requiring six runs off the last over, the home team scored the winning run off the last ball of the match to post 134-7.
Chadwick Walton also contributed 28 while Danza Hyatt ended not out on 25 against the two wicket hauls from Dwayne Bravo and Kevon Cooper.
Earlier, the red steel sent to bat, lost wickets at regular intervals at eventually posted 133-8.
Captain Bravo top scored with 29 while younger brother Darren contributed 27.
Captain Gayle snared 2-24 while there was a wicket each for David Bernard, Andrew Richardson and Andre Russell.
With the win the Tallawahs ended the preliminary stage of the competition in 2nd place on 10 points the same the Guyana Amazon warriors who topped the table on net run rate.
The Tallawahs will face the Barbados Tridents in the semi-finals while the Red Steel will battle the Amazon Warriors.
Both matches will take place at the Queens Park Oval in Trinidad next Thursday and Friday.
