FIFA referee Valdin Ledgister is on course to officiate at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The 35 year old Jamaican, who recently officiated at the FIFA Under 17 World Cup, is currently listed on the provisional list.
“We have a course to prepare for the 2018 World Cup in Russia; I’m a part of that; there are ten referees from CONCACAF and I am in that ten…it’s looking good for 2016 and 2018 is on track. I am a part of the group so I just have to go there and do what I have to do to ensure that when 2018 comes, I am there representing Jamaica,” said Legister.
Peter Prendergast is the only Jamaican to stand in the middle of a senior FIFA World Cup when he did so at the 2002 staging in South Korea.
