Jamaica quarter mile relay team was disqualified following their heat this morning, after the first-legged runner ran out of her lane.
Rosemarie Whyte who opened for Jamaica, ran out of her lane. After careful inspection of the tapes, this violation was later highlighted by the referee and technical team of the championship meet. This eventually allowed the UKraine team to qualify as one of the fastest losers. Jamaica who finished on the podium in this event at the last six World Championships, will not take part in the final.
Jamaica, one of the big contenders in the event finished second behind home team Russia. Along with Britain and the United States, Jamaica and Russia were the favourites and listed as possible medal contenders as they posted some fast qualifying times. Russia was the fastest country with a season best of (3:23:51, followed by United States (3:25:18) and Jamaica with (3:25:25).
