President of the Jamaica Volleyball Association (JAVA) Rudolph Speid has made the bold prediction that the country will make it to the third round of the female beach volleyball Olympic qualifiers.
Twenty-four teams from twelve countries will battle over three days in Ocho Rios starting on Friday with six making it to the next round of the qualifiers as they chase a spot at the games in Rio in the summer.
Jamaica won the Caribbean title in St Ann last year and Speid believes they could top that.
“I’m guaranteeing Jamaica that we will advance to the third round of the Olympic qualifiers for female. This is the best prepared team that I think we have ever had…we have had a camp now running for a week and a half and before that we went to about four NORSECA tournaments; international events to prepare them plus a couple of our athletes have been in camps overseas for a couple months preparing them for the event,” said Speid.
Jamaica's first opponent will be known following the draw at Thursday evening's technical meeting at the venue.
