One change to Windies ODI squad for home series against England

As reported by Radio Jamaica Sports on Monday, Shimron Hetmyer is the lone change to the West Indies One Day International (ODI) squad from the tour of Sri Lanka as Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced the team to face England in three 50 over games starting on Thursday.

Hetmyer who has not played ODI cricket for the West Indies since featuring against the same opposition in December last year has been named as a replacement for left-handed opener Alick Athanaze who score 11 runs in two innings against Sri Lanka.

Shamar Joseph who left the Sri Lanka series early due to personal reasons keeps his spot in the 15-man squad which is captained be Shai Hope. Surprisingly no vice-captain has been named.

Radio Jamaica Sports also reported that Jamaican Brandon King is to be given that role ahead of regular vice-captain Alzzari Joseph.

The full squad is captain Shai Hope, Jewel Andrew, Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Shimron Hetmyer, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Gudakesh Motie, Sherfane Rutherford, Jayden Seales, Romario Shepherd and Hayden Walsh Jr.

The West Indies are unbeaten in their last two ODI series against England at home. The Windies won the last series 2-1, their only series win over the English since 2007.

The three-match ODI series begins with two ODIs at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on October 31 and November 2, before the final game at Kensington Oval in Barbados on November 6.
