The Central Titans capped off an unbeaten season with a 26 run win over the Southern Seals in the final of the inaugural JCA 50 over competition, a day/night contest at Sabina Park on Sunday. The Titans first posted 268-8 from their 50 overs.
They were led by a 105 run sixth wicket stand between Tamar Lambert 76 and Pete Salmon 55 which rescued them from 91-5. Trevon Griffith also made 53 and Krishmar Santokie 32 from 10 balls. Jamie Merchant took 3-34 and Gordon Bryan 3-77.
In reply, the Seals came close but also came up short as they were bowled out for 242 in 48 overs. Sherdon Allen with 77 and Merchant who made 32, actually led a rearguard 7th wicket fightback for the Seals after they were reduced to 91-6 at one stage. Romaine Morris also contributed 33 and West Indies representative Jermaine Blackwood 24.
But this wasn’t enough as Stefan Casey with 5-48, Santokie 2-42 and Steven Taylor 2-41 sealed the win for the Titans. The Titans secured the double, having also won the league title earlier this season.
