Former outdoor national record holder Tyrice Taylor is now the Jamaican record holder for the short track or indoor 800 metres.
Taylor secured one of two Jamaican victories at the 2-day Tyson Invitational indoor meet which ended at the Randal Tyson Centre on Saturday.
Taylor, the 24 year old former Bog Walk and Vere Technical standout, held the national outdoor record for just over a month last summer.
Now, he's the indoor record holder after racing to 1 minute, 46.11 seconds win the 4-lap event on Saturday. The other Jamaican winner at the meet was quarter-miler Stacey-Ann Williams who won the 300 metres in 35.92 seconds, the third fastest time ever by a Jamaican behind Patricia Hall's 2012 time of 35.69 and Merlene Ottey's 35.83 from 1981.
