TVJ Sports has confirmed that eight-time Olympic Champion Usain Bolt is among clients that have been affected by a multi-million US dollar fraud at Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL), which the police have been called in to investigate.
The management of Stocks and Securities (SSL) confirmed via a press release Thursday that they called in the police to probe what is believed to be massive fraudulent activites carried out by a former employee at the company.
Bolt's executive manager Nugent Walker confirmed via telephone that the 100m and 200m world record holder has been affected by the fraud.
Walker, however, declined to comment further, indicating that the investigations are ongoing.
SSL in their release on Thursday said “safeguarding client assets is of the utmost importance" to the company. "To ensure this, we have implemented several additional internal measures and procedures to secure those assets and detect suspicious activity,” the release added.
The company said it will "continue to liaise and cooperate fully with law enforcement" in the investigation.
